7 Planimals doing the Run in March!!!

Hey all, in support of Anne and Tammi who are going to do the 1/2 marathon in March we have 6 other's that have said they want the 5k that day to be their next goal. Kimberly, Nancy Harvey are the knees willing team, Judy, Michelle, Annette, Natalie and who else wants to get in on the game? What is you next goal?

This week Lisa Hawley the owner of Southern Roots will give us a couple of easy things to make for lunch and tell what a trip to the store should include. Time for everyone to lose 5 - 7 more pounds before the end of our journey together.

Yeah!!! I would love for the 1/2 marathon to be my next goal!!!! :) (I actually wrote the essay and was going to turn it in... I just must have misunderstood when the deadline was...). Anyway, good luck to everyone! How exciting!!! Feeling great! Looking forward to the next meeting! (I hope she will have some veggie options) :) !!!

Thanks for posting that "5-7" comment. I have not written anything down for weeks, and guess what, didn't lose any weight either. Didn't gain, but didn't lose, because the plan doesn't work that well if you don't do the plan. I think a 1/2 marathon will feel a lot better without some of these extra pounds. SO...time to find the book that was my constant companion last go round and do it the right way.

Hey Donna, I did Jen's treadmill plan on Saturday, worked 12 hour nights the weekend so didn't get back to it til today. Today I was going to make it my long run (all relative terms mind you) but then it began to rain and I just didn't feel like being that miserable, so just got back from the treadmill where I did this jog/walk/jog thing mostly 5 minute jog/1 min walk, with one 8 minute jog at the end for 60 minutes. kind of didn't feel like it so breaking it up like that was distracting and helped with the mindset I was in. long zone 1 tomorrow, going to check with your friend to see if she's around any Thurs or friday. I'm in it Donna! I'm going to do it!

So, I'm putting on a little different hat for this blog...I need to lecture. Donna told me that there was some discussion in the Tuesday & Wednesday sessions about not being able to take a break to eat...or take a "bio break". This causes me great concern...Not because of the position I hold at HPRHS (even though I am concerned at that level)...but as a friend and a planimal. IF WE don't take care of ourselves--who will? This is a common theme I hear from health care providers. We spend all of our time taking care of everyone--EXCEPT ourselves. When I did the plan the first time--I made a committment..to myself. It was hard, but I did it and I am a better person for it. Yes, there are days that I don't get an "official" break...but, even if it is only 15 minutes to sit and collect my thoughts--I get something. I am asking that each of you reading this do the same. Commit to yourselves--you'll be better for it...and YOU DESEVE IT!! Not taking care of ourselves does no one any good. Okay...lecture over. Hope everyone has a great week---get lots of rest and don't forget to exercise!! :) Tammi

Actually I think that was also discussed in your very own Thursday class when you weren't there Tammi (but I was)....I hear you and agree wholeheartedly....somehow though it seems like most of the world thinks we should just keep going like energizer bunnies. God forbid we actually utter the words to anyone that a nurse actually, gasp, went to lunch. We say she's stepped away for a minute etc...I was actually really happy the other day to hear a Doctor say the same thing, his wife is a nurse, so therefore nurses are more human to him. Talked about our profession vs others, the others where it is actually perfectly fine, good and normal to take breaks, have lunch, gasp, go to the bathroom. We do need to take care of ourselves, because nobody else is going to do it for us. Whether it's at work or at home that we are overtaxed, we're the only ones to take care of ourselves.

I just set what has to be the new world record for SLOWEST 3.2 mile "run" (we use this term loosely)by anyone male, female, young or old. Outside, with hills, and I'm proud of my slowness, and the fact that I finished. Although I've walked many miles I probably haven't jogged that distance in 20 years. YAY!!!!!!!!
