A LITTLE GRANT MONEY (way to go Duncan)

TRIAD -- Work on the 26-mile-long Piedmont Regional Greenway has received a big financial boost.
The natural area won a $3,000 grant Saturday as part of Land Trust Day – an annual celebration put on by the Great Outdoor Provision Company.
It’s an effort to protect natural areas all across the state.

Greenway Grant
Work on the 26-mile-long Piedmont Regional Greenway has received a big financial boost.

Saturday’s win will help the Piedmont Land Conservancy continue its work on the trail that will connect Greensboro to Winston-Salem. Volunteers say greenways have become increasingly popular because of their appeal during a time of high gas prices.
“One of the links we're going to put in will be within Kernersville and will link a neighborhood in Kernersville to downtown,” said Charlie Brummitt of the Piedmont Land Conservancy. “That's an example of the transportation aspect of the greenway -- recreation, physical exercise, giving you an opportunity to be healthier"
Officials haven’t yet decided how they’ll spend the newest grant.
