can you
eat more grains? Substitute a whole-grain product for a refined product. Eat brown rice in place of white. Most sodium in our food supply comes from packages products. Who is cooking? Who is planning their meals and workouts in advance. If you are out of the habit, get your journal today and plan the rest of your days until your next Plan meeting. Bring your journal. Use it. How much did you sleep last night, last week? What we are hoping for is that you will become a clean eater and feel good about it. It takes a while and it works.

Not cooking as much as I should but alot more than I did! More fresh foods... much less processed and less eating out. And yes, Plan, Plan, Plan. Great name for the program; that's what it's all about... planning meals and healthy snacks. And I was the poster child for "I don't have time to exercise." I used to plan exercise around my schedule (which means I didn't do it) and now I plan my schedule around exercise. Still can't say that I love it and look forward to it, but it gets easier and it's becoming a way of life. And then there's the group meetings and the blog!

Bette great!!! Congratulations on your efforts. It'a all good!
Farmer's Market TODAY outside of the Fitness Center! Anyone pick up a "superfood" yet??
Do dark chocolate covered almonds count, cuz I picked up some of them. I figure they are practically a health food. And some broccoli too ;)
Jen, you are a genius!! Guess what happened today? I went to the YMCA here in GSO, planning on zone 1 for an hour, but felt good so decided after 45 minutes of zone 1 that I was mistaken and it was a zone 2 day...did 45 minutes of zone 2, stopped by the store on the way home and suddenly was STARVING. Like, I'm gonna eat something right here in the aisle starving. Guess I burned up all my sugar. Anyway, I resisted the urge to eat anything I could reach and am getting ready to make something healthy to eat.
Not to beat a dead horse but I LOVE this plan.......I learned a lot the first time, but more TIME has allowed me to figure more things out and I don't do the things I used to do (and used to blog about and fret about)...I just don't do them anymore and I feel so happy about that! It still amazes me, the whole thing. And I no longer "just do what Jen and Donna say" (even though I think there is great value in taking that approach until you don't have to anymore).....it is in me now. Thank you, both of you!!!!!!!!!!
Anne
Jennifer, great meeting last night! It just confirmed that I am moving in the right direction. :) Thank you to you and Donna for all of your support! I was floored with my 2 and 1/2 weight loss last week! Zone 2 is working for me! :) I was able to do Zone 2 on the treadmill today! :) Very excited! Thanks for the streching suggestions, Jennifer! I am feeling great on the treadmill now! :) I made veggie chili again today! Perfect cold, rainy day food! Jen, last night you suggested we try something new this week... so I was totally inspired! I am trying my vegan diet again! :) Wish me luck!!

Okay....I was REALLY disappointed in the scale this week! (It must have been calibrated incorrectly:))
Anyway, I was driving home...in the rain...thinking all those poor, pitiful me thoughts. I have not been quite so successful in Plan #2...I have been very busy at work and at home...My family is having a little crisis...Oh WOE IS ME!! As I was filling a very LARGE plate with pasta (my comfort food of choice)...I looked down. Into my head flashed "one serving"--It was quite apparent that I had at LEAST SIX (okay add two to that--but, it WAS whole wheat!) on my plate!! I walked away, and had a little discussion with myself. Why was I loading that plate? (see answers above) I then decided that while I was in need of food--comfort food...maybe not quite that much. I went back into the kitchen, pulled out a small bowl and adjusted my portion size. After I comforted myself with that smaller portion of pasta, I then congratulated myself. Nine months ago--I would have eaten the first portion...felt miserable about it and started the whole thing over the next day. As I reflected on my "lack of success" with this Plan session--I decided that maybe I actually have been successful. I haven't really gained any weight, I am much more aware of my intake--and WHY I am eating(I hate that piece of paper with the "words" on it!:))...I have used the treadmill for comfort and stress release and I can write all of this down and know that the people reading it will most definately understand. So, once again, the Plan does work--sometimes in ways that we don't realize for a while...Thanks Donna & Jennifer!! And, thanks to all my Plan buddies! Today is a new day. :) Tammi
Tammi, Awesome words. I was thinking some of the same thoughts myself. Last week was not as good for me, but I know exactly what I did wrong, attempting to correct it this week. Although I have not lost an extreme amount of weight (I'm sure happy with what I have lost), I know if I had not been on the plan, I would be 5-10 pounds heavier today.I have more energy than I have had in a long time. I am no longer winded from walking from the parking deck. I did buy a great used treadmill and yes I am using it and plan to continue using it. Everyone say a little prayer for Janet, bad news from the MRI of her foot. Carolyn
Very well said Miss Tammi!!!! I think you spoke for everyone on the plan!!! Thanks for keeping it in perspective for me!!!

Hi plan buddies, good to be back today was my first day back at the gym. I have been out with shin splits for the last couple of days. Thank you Jen, that rest really help. I can truly say that I really missed walking everyday. I did not feel good at all. Today was tough walking but I made up my mind I need to keep on. Tammi you are so funny, hang in there you are my inspiration. We all will continue to pray for Janet and hope everything will be alright. Looking forward to seing everyone this week.
I am back after a great trip this week to Ashville, not so great with the plan. This time of year I want to get into the hibernation mode and eat. I have to remind myself that plananimals dont hibernate;we exercise. Good news for me, my dr. cut one of my BP meds in half!!! Plus, she said when I lose 2 more pounds I will no longer be in the obese category but will be in the overweight category. I am psyched. Oh, what are the super foods for? I dont remember discussing that in the meeting. Melanie
wow...took a break from the blog and it was nice to come back to. Tammi.........thanks for that post. I got a little teary-eyed. Kim I had bad shin splints plan 1 at the beginning. I just did no incline and slowed down and ice and eventually they went away. They hurt though! You are all an inspiration.
Having an emotional week and probably next too....good stress, but still stress...which has not moved me to eat, but rather to pour a glass or 2, 3? of red wine which I don't even know the calories of right now and don't care to. Keeping the big picture in mind. Sometimes we just have to get through whatever is going on and I'm going to have some superfoods with my wine. :)
Anne
Anne, Did you know that Lowes Foods has a chocolate red wine?? Yum. Melanie
No Melanie. I had no idea! I've heard of a chocolate martini, but I've never had that either. Maybe a celebratory drink when I've lost everything I want to lose on the plan! Hope you are having a good week.
Anne
