If you are going out of your Zone 1 on the high end remember to take a little longer in the beginning to get there. If you get on the treadmill at 2.5 speed and your heart rate goes to the top of Zone 1 in the first 5 minutes you will be too high in a few more minutes.
Go at 2.0 for 5 minutes 2.2 for 5 minutes then up if you need to.
Your body may not think you are really going to do this. Oh well YOU ARE and if going a bit slower initially will keep you steady then do it.
It is harder to get your heart rate to come back down than to get it to go up!
Anybody seen Lynn F or Cindy S? just checkin :)

Dear Friends,
Don't be fooled by the media.

I'm laughing out loud that spinach is the riskiest food.
Unbelievable!
Study brought to you by the makers of canned Dinty Moore Stew and Smucker's...the makers of diet syrup :)

The Plan Rule #1: BE HAPPY
more rules to follow, don't fear the spinach or the peanut butter
Rule #1 is my favorite!! Be one with the PB AND the spinach. I just read that article and if those are the top 10 threats, I'm in big, big trouble......Really glad to be back with the plan and writing everything down again, it feels great. I need to figure out in the next 11 weeks how to keep doing that...during the time between plans I'd start the day writing but not finish the day writing....THAT doesn't work!

It felt kind of easy today to do my hour on the treadmill, maybe because I am not on a peanut butter high anymore. I have figured out how to get at least 2tbsp in on a daily basis for now, until I can wean down more. New shoes have helped tremendously too. What is the daily amount of sodium that we should be striving for? Please dont tell me that mine is all in the peanut butter!!! Melanie
Melanie, did you get your shoes at pro fit on main street??? I love my shoes!! I could not do my time on the treadmill without them!!! To help Lynn save face I must announce here in the blog that she was on the treadmill with me for an hour tonight!! :) heehee!!

With all the high calorie/fat foods out there to tempt us, who would have thought that P'nut butter would get so much blog-time!
You guys have cracked me up! Thanks for the laughs! Making getting healthier fun!

Can anyone remind me of the sodium to calorie ratio? I know total sodium should be less than 1500mg per day to lose weight. When looking at the food labels should the sodium be 2x the calories or the calories be 2x the sodium??
Thanks!!!!
I think it should roughly be 1:1
The Salt Rule:
Avoid foods with twice as much sodium as calories.
It's a quick way to judge good choice/bad choice. When you look at the calories... let's take Jiff regular peanut butter for example :).... 190 calories per 2 tablespoons!..... So we are hoping that sodium is less than 190 X 2 (which is 380 mg)..... well we are in LUCK... is has 150 mg per 2 tablespoons! EXCELLENT CHOICE :)

I am happy tonight! Trying to cut out Diet Mt Dew and Sweet N Low. It is tough so I am cutting down first!!
Great group meeting on Tuesday. Iwas happy to know that I can have sugar. Sweets is what I crave. Daon and Jennifer said I could have ICE CREAM YEAHHHH.....I learned that calories+portions/serving size. I understand how to make a better choice. I get home late most nights. Usually around 730. I am hungrywhen I get home. The suggestion in groupo was that I should prepare meals ahead of time. Any other tips from any one.
BE HAPPY!!!!THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT GUYS!!!!!

yay for the peanut butter news. Everyone seemed happy coming out from the scale today. It is so great to see so many people blogging. It's a lot more interesting than just reading my junk, huh, Donna? I'm glad this time around I won't be referring to it as "MY blog".....sorry I had to work and miss the meeting,
looking forward to next week a lot!
Anne
Hello everyone, what a beautiful day. It was so great to listen to everyone at the meeting yesterday. I was so excited about my 4 pounds. I really like to thank Donna for all her suggestions when I was walking the other day. I got up early this morning and ate the breakfast example we saw at the meeting, feeling good. I will continue to pray for success for everyone! Keep praying and keep walking. Have a good week.
Even witht the "news" about the artificial sweetners and salt, I am still jazzed about the Plan...
Just takes a little longer to get through the grocery store for now.
I'm sure we'll get used to it though. It is another beautiful day- great for walking!!
You go, Kim!!! :) I have very empowered and in control this past week. It is such a gift to be able to understand your body. Also, peanut butter is a gift... :) Just finished eating my breakfast (thank goodness my Honey Bunches of Oats fit the sodium rule!!!) Now for my coffee with (as always) real sugar!!! Yum!! Starbucks Red blend was never meant to have fake sugar put in it!! :) -steph
