Ha Ha, hey I was the only one to comment on the last one. I'm here, and checking the blog because I like to hear from others. The salt thing may be one of my biggest challenges food wise. But I'm trying to make friends with pepper. I ate an egg with lots of pepper and my thought was "pepper isn't salt"...but it was ok and I know it's a taste I need to acquire more love for. I was looking in the fridge...claussen MINI kosher dill 5 calories, 290 mg of sodium! That's crazy. I have a question, you always say eat real food--do you consider eggbeaters real food?? I usually do a combo of a real egg with some eggbeater and add lots of veggies like Mushrooms, tomato, even asparagus...it's a lot for not many calories. I've also added parmesan cheese to that combo when I had the calories to spare. Pretty satisfying, and I make enough veggies for more than one omelet so next time they are ready to throw in. Anyone have any good food ideas? Always trying to think of something new.
Oh my!! I went to the cafeteria to get a salad....and started to get some "light" salad dressing...thought I'd check out the label. Guess what??? The serving (don't remember what a "serving" was) had 60 calories...and 230mg of sodium! YIKES! I got oil and vinegar:)) 0mg of sodium. I had everyone at the salad bar wishing that I'd go away--reading all the labels on the salad dressings! Amazing what reading labels tells you! Tammi
Wow! all you gotta do is ask! The eggbeater thing is a good deal. Lots to eat and we do classify eggbeaters as real food! Please try to move it along at the salad bar we don't want to ruin our reputation. Keep gettin it. So many were working out today. PS the "one who hated exercise" from yesterday lost 4 lbs!!!!
The prodical Shamonica has returned. (smile) I was disappointed at the one pound loss last night, then I thought to myself, 'Girl get off that sad train! YOU LOST A POUND! WHOO-HOO!' So, I'm back! Sodium count is going to give me a run for my money. I was kind of looking at the Sodium level previously and said 'Mannn!' I haven't even eaten yet because I am worried what to put in my mouth! No worries, I will eat. Any tips about food that does not involve me cooking, let me know! (smile) I felt good exercising today! I was filling out something on the net last night and felt elated to check the box that says 'Do you exercise? and How often?' Usually I would have skipped over that whole question like it n'er existed! I am still in this game. I'm at 7.5lbs lost so far and looking forward to more!!!!!!!! ~Shamonica~
Yay, shamonica is back:)...I have to say I was hating the treadmill so much yesterday. I got off and walked a few times around the track they have at the Y and called it a day. I wasn't feeling too good anyway. BUT today I decided since I couldn't bear the thought of the gym to put my HR monitor on and walk in the park. Country park in GSO 1.6 miles per loop around the lake, HR gets right up because there are some hills and listening to the birds is nice. It was a welcome break from the monotony of the treadmill and since I was happy I walked over 90 minutes. Yes, Shamonica we are still in this!! Anne
I read this in an article- I though this may help change anyone's views that would rather have a Coke instead of Water.
WATER
#1.75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. #2.In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger. #3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%. #4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study. #5.Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. #6.Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers. #7.A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page. #8.Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
COKE
#1.In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident. #2.You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days. #3.To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the 'real thing' sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china. #4.To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola. #5.To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion. #6.To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes. #7.To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy. #8.To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.
FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
#1.The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis. #2.To carry Coca-Cola syrup!(the concentrate)the commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials. #3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean engines of the trucks for about 20 years!
Now the question is would you like a glass of water or Coke?
I had stepped on the scale this morning (by accident) and read the results and couldn't believe it. So, I went to the FC and asked Donna to weigh me and...I have lost 2.5 lbs since Wednesday weigh in!!!! Maybe it was the fluid that my body was holding on to from all that water intake. Who knows?! Who cares! 2.5 lbs!!! I am at a total of 10lb loss! My message for all of us--Keep doing what we're doing and listen to Donna and Jennifer! We all will be much thinner for doing so!!! Have a great Memorial Day and Eat Healthy!!! ~Shamonica~
